Android Exchange Sync Error: Phone storage full

If you are syncing your Android device with an Exchange server, you might come up with this error message: "Exchange Sync Error - Phone storage full".  After checking your device's available memory (Settings -> Storage), you notice that you have plenty of place in the internal storage and on any SD card.  Somehow, the Exchange sync functionality isn't allowed to use all that space.  I had this issue today.

After a quick search online, I found a solution that said to remove your synced accounts in your settings, clear all data and caches from the email/calendar/contact apps, restart your phone and add your account settings again.  There must be a better way of doing this without re-configuring everything.

Yes, there is, and it is quite simple.  At least, it seems to be working for now.  All you need to do is go to the Android's Settings, then Storage.  Under the "Internal storage" section, click "Make more space".  This opens the "Clear caches" function.  Check "All applications" and then press Next.  Once you complete the clean-up, you should be able to sync again without getting any error.

After a few hours, the error came back, so I had to manually delete my email account's configuration and re-create it.  Unfortunately, it seems that it is the only way to solve this issue.
